At the family gathering for my Mom, one of my cousins told a story of something that recently happened to them. My aunty lives next door to Nuuanu Memorial Park, where she overlooks the cemetery. When people hear that, they get creeped out, but she is comforted by being close to her family, who are all buried there, parents, grandparents, sisters, brother and others.
One early evening, my cousin Jason, his wife Joy and their two children Miya and Marcus were visiting my grandparents' grave before going to dinner with aunty. Buried with my grandparents are some of their children, including a son and daughter who died when they were children, Wallace Seiichi and Carol Sumie. Aunty looked out from her lanai and waved to Jason and his family. Later when they met up with aunty, she asked where's Kendra? Jason and Joy were puzzled because their niece Kendra was never with them. Aunty said when she looked out and saw them, there was a little girl dancing around the graves near them, and she assumed it was Kendra. She said that she was dressed differently but she didn't think anything about it. Later, she said maybe it was her sister Sumie who died when she was five and came out to play because the kids were there. She was closest in age to her so maybe that's why she could see her.
Ok, maybe that's a little scary but also neat. But maybe if it happened to me I would be frightened!
I've never had an experience with ghosts, but I've always thought that if my mom or grandparents or aunties decided to come around, I wouldn't mind seeing them again. I miss them a lot.
Ryan and his roommates have also experienced some "ghostly" activity in the house they are renting. Lights going off/on by themselves, cat suddenly freaking out when nothing is there, hearing footsteps or feeling something touching them, hearing the hangers in the closet moving or shoes moving around. Luckily it's stopped but it happened often when they first moved in. Maybe the presences have gotten used to their being around.
