last "first show"

At the first football game of the season, Kamehameha played arch-rival St. Louis.  The band performed the first three movements of their field show in full dress uniform during half-time.  As a senior, this was Ryan's last "first show" (as noted by my friend Laurie, whose son is also a senior in band).

They just learned the third movement that week so they weren't really prepared to do the whole show and it wasn't their best performance.  But it's the first time the band has been this far along in learning the whole field show by the first game.  And Ryan did a good job conducting the first movement.

The first picture is Ryan with Asst Band Director Aris Santa Cruz.  Ryan started yelling "SPAGETT!" when he saw Aris so now Aris has started saying "SPAGETT" as well.  It's from some TV show, I think.  Just another memory of senior year.

Too bad the football team didn't win the game.  Lots of the starters from last year's state championship team graduated, so it's a rebuilding year for football.
