The Kamehameha Band marched in the Kamehameha Day Parade held on June 7. It was a six-mile parade, starting at the Kamehameha Statue downtown and ending at Queen Kapiolani Park in Waikiki. We helped out by passing out water to the kids as they came around Fort DeRussy onto Kalakaua Ave.
Unfortunately no good photos, just something quick I took while I was passing out water in the middle of the street. Didn't get to hear them play at all. The band was much smaller than usual as the seniors have graduated (though it was lucky that a lot of them did come) and the boarders have gone home for the summer. It was such a small parade...two floats, three high school bands from Missouri, civic groups in convertibles, and only three islands represented by pa'u riders because the others couldn't afford to participate.It was such a hot day...felt sorry for all the participants, especially those who didn't have water.
