We went to Denny's for brunch, then to "Toy Story 3" (which Ryan had already seen with Kylie but he consented to see again with us), then dinner at Outback Steakhouse, which Darrell had chosen.
Glad he had a nice time on Sunday, since he had to have surgery on his foot today. He messed up his left foot again due to all the walking on the Japan trip. It had finally been healing after the January surgery. The surgeon warned us that there could be problems, but he encouraged us to go, since the band trip was really a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Fortunately it was an outpatient surgery at Queens and he was able to come home. The drainage tube (which I have to keep tabs on and drain) is kind of gross and he has to keep from putting weight on the foot, but he was feeling ok. On the way home from the hospital he even made me drive to Kalihi to pick up pork adobo and monggo beans from Sam & Syd's.
The healing will have to start all over, but hopefully it will move along a little quicker this time.
