It was a little bit of a reunion as we also got to see his other cousins, Rogelio's sisters Arsenia and Yolanda, and cousin Miriam from Maui (another uncle's daughter). It was nice to catch up as we hadn't seen any of them for a few years.
We reconnected with Rogelio and his wife Kanoe because their youngest son Kamakana is classmates with Darrell's sister-in-law Pat's son Isaac, and we saw them at Isaac's graduation party a while back. Talk about interconnections. Plus we keep in touch with Kamakana via Facebook too. Gotta love social media. That's how we keep in touch with Darrell's cousins on the mainland too.
Arsenia is familiar with where Darrell's Aquino family is from in the Philippines, Tarlac. There apparently is even some Chinese mixed in with the Filipino blood a couple of generations back.
