Last week I got to see an old friend from my Princeville days - Kelly - and her son Kyle. Her daughter Katelyn was Ryan's classmate at Kilauea School on Kauai, and they were on Oahu for Katelyn's soccer tournaments.
Ryan still remembers the time he spent with Kyle and Katelyn at their house one summer while I was working, maybe when he was in third grade? We left Kauai when he had just started fourth grade in July 2002. Seeing them really brought back a lot of memories. Hooked up with Kelly again through that amazing invention, Facebook!
Also got to see some of Darrell's family at his Aunty Ole's funeral yesterday in Makaha. It's sad that nowadays the only time we see our extended family is at funerals. Our grand-niece 'Ale'a was here with her grandma Candy, Darrell's sister. She's gotten so tall but is still so cute. Even though she hasn't seen Ryan in a year, she loved playing with him, sitting on his
lap and whacking him in the head!
