new job

Ryan got a new job at Gyu-Kaku, which will be opening May 18 at Windward Mall where Farrell's used to be (and McDonald's before that).  He's working in the kitchen as a cook.  He wrote on Facebook, "I love how my job as a cook involves almost no cooking."  This is kind of true since the concept of the restaurant is for you to cook your own food on little grills at the table so he mostly preps what people cook.  He likes it so far and thinks the food is delicious.  Friday night they were open for invited guests and employees as a trial run and he said they were so busy, way busier than he ever was at his old job.  But they got it done.

He trained at the Kapiolani restaurant the first two weeks and is worked twice at the Kaneohe restaurant so far.  He knows all the different cuts of meat and the different sauces on the menu.  They also serve tongue, which he says is delicious, like filet mignon.  But that's one thing (along with frog legs, snails, liver, tripe, intestines, pig blood) that's not going into my mouth, just because of WHAT IT IS, never mind that people think it's delicious.  NO THANKS.

Can't wait to try the non-tongue/intestine offerings out in a couple of weeks when they open!
