The weekend of the family gathering in honor of Mom, we had two other family get-togethers. The first, on Saturday night, was with my Dad's first cousin, who he calls "Michi." They were born a couple of months apart, grew up together and went to school together, but have not been that close in their adult years. But his son John and I connected because we were both interested in genealogy, and whenever they come back to Hawaii to visit from Oregon, they always let us know so we can get together. This time, we decided to bring the Dads so they could reconnect.
We went to Izakaya Gazen for the first time and it was a nice evening. Great food and great company!
We had just seen John, Caryn and Julia in January but it seemed as though Julia had grown up so much.
The evening even had a photo-bombing waiter!
And the family photos...hope to see them all again soon!

Thought it would be fun to share some old photos of them...small kid time.
And here they are at high school graduation.
