As part of his PE requirement, Ryan (and the other juniors and seniors) have to do a public run or biathlon or swim. He decided to do this one, which goes along the bike path around Pearl Harbor. It was pouring rain most of the time, so they all got soaking wet, but he finished in 1 hour, 17 minutes, just 45 seconds behind his projected time.

So high tech, they had chips to strap on their legs for the run that recorded their time and made sure they finished the whole run.

There were 320 participants in the race, mostly

made up of Kamehameha students.
L-R, John Michael, Ryan, Cody, Joel and Michael (all band students). And like good Kamehameha students, they did a pule (prayer) before the race.

Kylie got up early to come with us and cheer him on. We got to Lehua Elementary, the starting point, by 5:30 am and was able to find parking (that was my biggest worry). We were all done there by 8:30 and headed home. Had breakfast with Darrell at Denny's, then we all went home and took naps, getting up at 2 pm. It was still rainy and cool, so perfect napping weather.
Good job, Ry!
