I wound up taking Christmas Eve off, even though I hadn't planned to. Maybe just holiday fatigue...cards mailed, gifts purchased and given, and I was pretty much just ready for the holiday to be over with (yes, bah humbug!). We're not Christian so we don't celebrate Christmas that way. And since Ryan is grown and not living at home, no tree or decorations either.
We were able to get together with our niece Ehu and her boys for lunch. We love spending time with them and are so fortunate that they live on Oahu now so we can see them more often. Ehu's sister Ipo and her family live on Molokai and their brother Nainoa lives in Louisiana so we don't see them much. Our other nephew and niece live in Waipahu but they are so busy, we don't get to see them or their parents that much either.
My best friend Karen and her family were here for Christmas and we didn't get to spend that much time together this trip but we squeezed in a dinner on the Eve. They had a lot going on with family obligations and then Darrell wound up in the hospital the day after Christmas. Luckily it was a quick stay and he was able to come home on Sunday, before New Year's.
Wanted to post this pic of KNn visiting D at the hospital. Usually they let visitors in without getting all suited up in protective gear, but they wound up talking to the one nurse who made them do it. Thanks for coming to visit! Hopefully we can spend more time together on your next trip home.
