Band-o-Rama 2009

We've been going to Band-o-Rama since Ryan was in 7th grade band. At this concert, the elementary, middle school and high school bands perform. The high school also recognizes the senior band members. Those who have been in band all four years get letter jackets paid for by the booster club (though some girls opted for Tiffany pendants instead of jackets). This is the tuba section with their section leader Wichimai (kneeling), who is graduating. The seniors write about their favorite band moments and what their plans for the future are and these are read as they are recognized. These kids love band so much and have had so many great memories.
Here are all the seniors...

.
..and here's a video of what the tubas did to Wichimai when he was recognized. It's also what they do at the football games, run through the bleachers, playing.
I asked Ryan what his favorite "band memory" would be and he said it was on the Rose Parade trip. He was in his friend's hotel room with another friend and one boy wanted Ryan to show him how to slow dance since he was planning to ask a girl to dance after the band dinner. So they were in the slow dance position when the chaperone walked in to tell them to go somewhere. When the chaperone saw what they were doing, he just said, never mind, and walked out. Can just imagine what he was thinking!

The band played wonderfully, as usual!
