Lots going on...not into blogging so much, but do try to update Facebook. Signed up for Twitter but just to read the celebrity tweets.
8/14/09 6:06 pm Think that one offshoot of becoming a taxpayer is your name goes into the jury pool - Ryan got his first jury questionnaire at age 16 (Grandpa got one the same day too).
8/15/09 10:57 pm Just signed up to sell Miche Bags! They are so cool. Jan gave me a bag and three outer shells for my birthday. I had already been interested in them when I saw in the newspaper that Vicky Cayetano and her sister Ginny Tiu were the local distributors. I decided to contact Vicky to become a sales rep and went to my first meeting.
8/18/09 5:54 pm Learned today on "Oprah" that regular bacon is a better choice for you than turkey bacon. They both apparently have equal fat, but turkey bacon has more sodium. Thank goodness, because the smell of raw turkey bacon makes me gag!
8/19/09 10:04 pm My son wants to celebrate his 18th birthday a couple of years from now by getting a tattoo...and wants his mom to get a matching one. Er...no, not happening. People who saw this post did think this was cute of him though, to be so thoughtful.
8/21/09 2:32 pm Went to the "Made in Hawaii Festival" at NBC and did my part to stimulate the economy. Place was packed with vendors as well as customers.
8/22/09 9:53 pm Saw two REALLY different movies today: "Post Grad" with Alexis Bledel (cute) and "District 9" (not cute, but seriously a great movie, but one I'm never going to see again).
8/24/09 1:40 pm Excited...got my Miche Bag samples today! Show at Jan's house on September 13.
8/26/09 12:44 pm Had a busy morning...meeting, taking my aunty to Costco, credit union, Longs. This afternoon - another appointment. This evening - band meeting.
8/27/09 4:51 pm Darrell got an invitation to get a "Visa Black Card," offered to "only 1% of US residents" and includes a card made out of carbon (what's that?) and 24-hour concierge service. Not bad for being unemployed.
8/27/09 6:43 pm From "what's for dinner? we have nothing to eat" to three main dishes - I made clamghetti, Darrell made corned beef hash, Ryan made chopped steak, all pulled from stuff in the freezer, fridge and cabinet.
8/28/09 3:47 pm On the way to Ewa...traffic! Bumper to bumper just past Red Hill, then a guy on a motorbike went down right in front of us when he tried to cut in front of a truck. I was in shock, but Ryan was quick; he rolled down his window right away and yelled, "Dude, are you ok?" Guy gave us a thumbs up, but his bike was trashed. Yay for living in beautiful Kaneohe!
8/29/09 10:20 am At the water park, waiting for Sin to Society to play at 11 am. They did well, but the crowd in the pavillion were not there to listen to the band. People were just there to have a shady place to relax. This was disappointing to Ryan, who got no response to his awesome guitar solo.
8/29/09 4:38 pm Up at Kunuiakea watching the band practice - first field show performance next Saturday at Aloha Stadium. Will they be ready? Unlike other years, they apparently only practice their field show music 10 minutes a day in class, rest of the time is spent on warmups. Hear that the kids are not happy about the changes.
8/29/09 10:48 pm Had Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" running through my head all evening, after listening to the band practice it this afternoon.
8/30/09 11:30 am At Shirokiya...they have a lot more variety in their bentos than ever. What to eat?
8/30/09 10:17 pm Brother-in-law on Molokai was just on the TV news watering down his yard because of the wildfires that came close to the house; mother and father-in-law evacuated this morning but they are back home. Scary!
