My Aunty Shige turned 80 on December 14 and we planned a surprise party for her at Cheesecake Factory. Almost all my cousins and their kids were able to be there, four generations, from my Aunty Ritsu, aged 93, the oldest of her generation (nisei) to baby Kendra at two-and-a-half months (gosei, or fifth generation). I'm glad we were able to do this for Aunty Shige; as one of nine children, this was only her second birthday party (the first one was the 77th birthday part we had for her three years ago).Here is the family:
