Drivers Permit

Took Ryan to get his drivers permit this past week Tuesday because he started drivers ed the next day. Luckily he passed on his first try. First he said he had 5 answers wrong, then he apparently rounded down, because he actually had 7 wrong (8 would have been the maximum he could have had wrong to pass). He was so happy he didn't notice until we were in the car to go home that they had the wrong birthdate (June instead of March). So we turned around and went back so it could be corrected. He wanted to drive home right away, but I nixed that; he thinks he can drive because he drove the electric car/golf cart at the zoo, but didn't want him to drive for the first time in rush hour traffic.

He did drive for the first time the next day, after drivers ed class. We let him drive home from school, via Puna gate. He did amazingly well, for his first time, just one horn! It's gonna be stressful driving with him, but we have to do it since he needs 50 hours of practive driving time. This is the law: Students must practice with any licensed driver over the age of 18 for 50 hours, 40 hours daytime and 10 hours at night. The students parent or guardian must sign a notarized statement saying the student has completed the 50 hours before the student will receive the Behind the Wheel Certificate. (learner's permit required).
