Spent last night and this morning going through the old photographs that were passed on to me by my aunties, some dating from when my grandparents were young. We were planning to see my cousins, John and Mika, and their families, and I wanted to look for some old photos to share. Our dads are first cousins (their parents were brother and sister) and grew up together, went to high school together. Unfortunately, as adults they really weren't close so us kids never got to meet or know each other. John and I first met online, via email, due to our mutual interest in genealogy and family history.

Coincidentally, found out via Facebook that Nate and my cousin Derek from my mom's side of the family are friends from UH band. Small world! So nice to connect with family members...found out we may even have relatives from another branch of the family in Canada (our great-grandfather Uichiro Urata's brother Kumata is buried in Vancouver).
