Kamehameha Graduation

Congratulations to our nephew Pono and the other Kamehameha Schools Class of 2009 graduates!

This is the sign they made for people to find him. There were lots of creative signs. And these were totally essential - the exhibition hall was packed tight with graduates and people trying to find them! I found most people by looking for their signs. Micah, whose last name begins with "A" was in the "K" section when I found him, with his family following him around with his sign.

And with us. Ryan was in dress whites because the band played at commencement (no, that is NOT how they are supposed to wear their dress whites).

The ceremony was about three hours long, and it felt very long, especially since we couldn't hear anything where we were sitting in the upper level. Probably because we couldn't hear the program, the audience sounds were amplified and I was getting so irritated with people who talked throughout and who brought their babies and toddlers and let them cry, talk, or scream. Dr. Chun also asked that people hold their applause and cheers during the diploma awarding, which people did not do. In the defense of people in the upper level, they probably did not hear Dr. Chun say this, since we couldn't hear a darn thing up there, but still, they got a little carried away.

Afterwards, most of the kids went to Project Grad at the water park. Pono had decided not to go since he was going home to Molokai the following morning, so we all went to Zippy's to eat. We are so proud of Pono and all that he has accomplished!
