Pops Concert 2009 - Animation Theme

This year's Pops Concert theme was "Pops Animation." The seniors dressed as animated "lead" characters like Batman, Mulan and Snow White. The juniors dressed as villains. Sophomores were relegated to the roles of supporting characters.

Ryan was "Master Shake," Kaala was "Frylock," and Sproles was "Meatwad" from a cartoon called "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" (never heard of it either, but it seems like a sarcastic type of cartoon like "Family Guy" ). In the car over to the school, after they had made their costumes, they started to think of other characters they could have chosen: Timon and Pumbaa from "Lion King" would have been perfect for these two, or the soldiers from "Mulan" Chien-Po, Ling or Yao (no I did not know these by heart, thank you Google).

The kids and parents did a great job of coming up with the decorations. This is the table decoration - the comics used the band kids' pictures and captions were personalized.

The seniors were individually introduced and some of them came out through the "drawbridge" of Cinderella's castle. So cool. Our "Pops props" dads are awesome.

Darrell and I worked the "Cashier" table all night, selling tokens for pupus and drinks. Kendrick volunteered to help us during the busy time, when the doors first opened. Ryan and Kaala also helped us earlier in the day at 'Akahi with packing the dinners that were served that night.

So the band year is almost done...just three more meetings, the end of year band banquet on May 21, commencement on May 24, and the Kamehameha Day Parade on June 13. And Ryan has drum major tryouts this week.
