Parade Day! Got up early as we were leaving the hotel before 5 am (we needed to be in Pasadena before the roads were closed off at 6 am). Jan and Craig joined us on the bus. I slept most of the way, and when I woke up, found out that the bus couldn't drop us off where our seats were located so we had to walk the rest of the way. Our bleacher seats were at 235 West Colorado Blvd. (corner of St. John Ave. and West Colorado) and we could see the floats and bands coming down the street.
This is what the website says about the parade: On Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 8 a.m. (PST), millions of spectators from around the world will celebrate the New Year with the 119th Rose Parade themed Passport to the World's Celebrations. The Rose Parade will once again feature the beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians and spirited marching bands. The Rose Parade will be broadcast on ABC, NBC, Univision, HGTV, Travel Channel, Discovery HD as well as KWHY and KTLA in the Los Angeles area. The Parade is also seen in more than 150 international territories.

The band did great! It was so exciting seeing the Kaiser float and all flags appear at the top of the hill and we were all standing and cheering when they passed. I need to see if I can find the footage taken from the blimp...their marching was precision! The band is made up of freshmen like Ryan and bands from the Keeau and Maui campuses, as well as the Hawaiian Ensemble, kids who have never marched in a major parade before, and they looked like old pros! Ryan said he wasn't tired at all at the end and could have marched another six miles!
